The world's favorite pizza-loving heroes are arriving to Magic: The Gathering. The well-known TCG's company, Wizards of the Coast, announced a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a special panel held at NYCC. Could this be a radical new set or yet another crossover cash grab? We'll let you decide.
Check out here at all the details announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including key background. All items mentioned here launches on March 6, 2026, except for one item — a special Pizza Bundle arrives a couple of weeks after on March 27th.
Before we get into the many special decks and collections on offer, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set unveiled by Wizards. Standard booster packs for the expansion are priced at $6.99 per pack, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per booster.
Let's unpack a couple of surprising details. First, there's a new mechanic named Sneak, which is a riff on the pre-existing Ninjutsu, in which gamers can play powerful creatures onto the game field when an attacking creature goes unblocked. The key change in this case is that Sneak can apply to spells that aren’t creatures too. Wizards also used this chance to refine the mechanic a little (Sneak is treated as casting, as opposed to the older mechanic). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but it's more likely players will encounter Sneak in future sets from now on.
“If we ever were to return to the Kamigawa plane, we might use Ninjutsu since that's where it was developed and it is iconic of that world,” an experienced game designer stated. “However in other settings, because the mechanics are smoother and Sneak will be Standard-legal, it’s probable we’ll use Sneak.”
That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai card, is among four special cards with unique artwork created specifically for the set by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator the co-creator.
Additionally, if you're shocked by the card text on Turtles Forever card, which lets you play cards outside of your deck, many players were. But according to Wizards, that's now a legal card in every format of Magic.
Anyway, below are the highly unusual full-art lands from this set:
As per Wizards of the Coast's current policy, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. The designers say they were careful to make sure the cards and gameplay elements worked smoothly with other Standard sets such as Edge of Eternities.
“I led the design for over a year and we were aware it would be Standard-legal and which sets were going to be alongside it in standard,” a lead designer says. “Our goal was to make sure that they work well with some of those sets like Edge of Eternities.”
As an instance, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red archetype built around artifact cards.
“They mesh together to offer the pieces for a fun Standard deck,” the designer added.
Following a decision to design any pre-constructed Commander decks for Spider-Man and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only a single precon, but it does come with six different legendary cards that can serve as your commander based on how you pair them (five cards include a unique Partner mechanic called “Character Select” that allows starting with two commanders in the command area instead of just one). Check them out below:
The Turtle Power precon is set at $69.99, although the price may rise due to demand. Sources told that it contains 43 brand-new cards altogether, which means an extra 37 Turtle-themed cards besides the six legendary creatures pictured earlier. (Calculating roughly, that also means about 20 reprints if we assume the precon comes with 37 lands.)
How will the Turtles version of Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Typically, the company is offering a bundle. It is priced at $69.99 and includes the listed items:
This is a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, primarily because it comes in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Each Pizza Bundle costs $99.99 and includes the items below:
If you’re wondering about the “pizza bundle promo” means, it’s essentially a reprinted older card with brand-new TMNT artwork. Wizards revealed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of master Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces on a pizza. In total, there are six different Pizza Bundle promo cards in total.
This special bundle launches a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.
This special bundle is designed for a four-player draft and is priced at $119.99. It includes:
Finally, the developers are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its continued initiative to create Magic products aimed at beginners. In this case, the cooperative set is a special set of decks that allow two players join forces against a “Boss” deck that plays automatically.
The concept is that each Boss card gives special abilities to the creature cards included in the boss deck. The Boss automatically casts an additional card each turn, and players begin fighting {one Boss|
